Ouch! Peta Murgatroyd reveals Brooke Burke, 42, was replaced on Dancing With The Stars by Erin Andrews, 35, as they needed a 'younger vibe'

Fans were shocked when Brooke Burke was replaced as co-host on Dancing With The Stars just weeks before the 18th season was due to start. And now professional dancer Peta Murgatroyd is shedding light on why the 42-year-old was let go. In a new blog post on People.com, the dancing pro believes the show's search for a 'younger demographic' was behind Brooke's replacement by 'girl-next-door' Erin Andrews. While the 27-year-old beauty gives praise to Brooke, she also agrees a revamp was necessary for the long-running series. 'I think the changes are a great thing. Brooke [Burke-Charvet] has been an amazing host and she's such a beautiful person, but I think the show needs to develop a little bit more,' wrote the blonde stunner. 'We are trying to create a younger demographic watching our show. I really think we need a younger vibe.' That need for a 'younger vibe' led producers to hire Erin Andrews, who at 35 is just seven years Brooke's junior. 'Erin Andrews is like the girl-next-door. She's been hosting for so many years and she's a friend of mine,' Peta added. But despite the apparent desire for a younger audience, 58-year-old host Tom Bergeron continues to front the series. Regarding Brooke's departure, producers released an official statement saying: 'She's been a wonderful part of the Dancing With The Stars family since her triumphant win in season seven and will unquestionably be missed by our entire team. We'd like to thank Brooke for her years of great service.'
