Arthur Fogel, Chairman of Live Nation's Global Touring division, and tour producer, lambasted rumors that ticket sales are plummeting for Lady Gaga's artRave: The ARTPOP ball tour this 2014. "Ticket sales for North America and Europe are at 80% capacity sold," Fogel revealed in a Billboard interview, "even though the tour doesn't begin in America until May, and Europe in the fall."
"The run with Gaga over the last two tours has been incredibly successful, and this one is shaping up no differently," Fogel explained. He even confirms that Lady Gaga ArtPop Tour 2014 will be adding shows in North America in the coming weeks (including a second in Los Angeles), as well as more dates in the U.K., including a fourth O2 show in London. Though there were published reports that Gaga's June show at Milwaukee's Marcus Amphitheater is "flopping," Fogel reiterated, "When something like Milwaukee specifically comes up, that show has sold 14,264 tickets, the gross is $961,000, and it's at the end of June. I just don't know how this shit gets any traction without people doing their homework." A veteran tour promoter who also handled mega-concerts by U2 and Madonna, Arthur Fogel explained the live gig business in one sentence: "if it were actually true, you'd say 'pull the plug,'' And this just in: to add to the colourful festivity that we would always expect from shock artist such as Lady Gaga, the "Mother Monster" tweeted to complete the flavor, "I'm excited to announce June 26 through July 22 of Lady Gaga's artRAVE: The ARTPOP Ball will be opened by CRAYON POP!" The bubbly K-Pop act Crayon Pop went number 1 on the K-pop charts last year with their dance-y track "Bar Bar Bar." The song also went viral on YouTube, thanks to their signature helmets and piston-style line dancing. Lady Gaga ArtPop Tour 2014 starts May 4 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, but Crayon Pop will front the star's ARTPOP party seven weeks later in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and remain until the finale in Los Angeles.
