Justice League Movie Could Be Out In 2017

After confirming that DC's Justice League will take to our screens after the upcoming 'Batman vs. Superman' and it looks as though we might not have to wait as long as we first thought at least, according to the folks at the Latino Review.

"We know the rumoured release date of the 'Justice League' movie," they claim. "According to my sources, I'm hearing… May 5, 2017."

"Again, that is the rumour I am hearing. [But] it makes sense. If the President of Production is officially going on the record by saying that the movie will indeed follow 'Batman vs. Superman' then May 5, 2017 is a great date to plant a flag."

Of course, this is a great date for a number of reasons, mostly because early-May is currently the most sought-after release window for big, Hollywood blockbusters. But there could even be another reason.

Rumoured to be filming back-to-back with 'Batman vs. Superman', a 2017 release date would make an awful lot of sense. After all, with principal photography finished early, Warner Bros. would have plenty of time to finish the film for a release the following year.

But when should we expect an official announcement?

"I wouldn't expect confirmation until comic con at the earliest," they say. And it looks as though Borys Kit of The Hollywood Reporter backs up their claims.

Of course, this is nowhere near an official confirmation, and for now we'll just have to wait and see. But with 'cameos' coming thick and fast from other members of the Justice League, I can't help thinking that shooting the movies back-to-back makes a lot of sense. I mean, they will all be on set…

But is that such a good thing?

If you ask me, it could prove to be a very risky move. After all, the general public has no reason to know or care about Aquaman, Flash or the Martian Manhunter. So why should they be excited about them teaming up with Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman?

Marvel's 'Avengers' worked because not only did it appeal to the comic book fans, but the studio spent the time to build their universe with a string of successful solo films… and that brought their superheroes directly into the public consciousness.

But can a Justice League film really work without setting the scene for each of these rather diverse heroes? Only time will tell… but it certainly won't be easy.

Which heroes do you think will join the Justice League line-up? Will we see the Justice League in cinemas by 2017? Let us know what you think in the comments below…

Ryan Leston is a comic book movie geek from Cardiff who can't wait to hear more about the rumoured Justice League movie. His favourite DC film is The Dark Knight and he was hugely impressed with Henry Cavill as Superman. Follow Ryan Leston on Twitter or Facebook.
