‘The View’ to bring all 11 co-hosts together to bid farewell to Barbara Walters

Walters is in for one historical send-off on May 15 when all the ladies of 'The View's' past and present share the same stage to say good-bye.

Barbara Walters will retire after 37 years with ABC News on May 16.

"The View" is set to make television history in honor of Barbara Walters' retirement. ABC announced Wednesday in a press release it will bring all 11 co-hosts from the show's past and present together to bid farewell to Walters. The familiar faces will include Meredith Vieira, Star Jones, Joy Behar, Debbie Matenopoulos, Lisa Ling, Rosie O'Donnell, Elisabeth Hasselbeck Sherri Shepherd, Jenny McCarthy and Whoopi Goldberg. Despite past differences that have led to feuds and dismissals from the host panel over the last 17 years, the ladies have all agreed to share the stage to applaud Walters, 84, and her 37 years with ABC. "Barbara Walters' status as a trailblazer, a legend and an icon are undeniable," ABC Entertainment Paul Lee said in a statement.

"By creating a talk show panel with multiple hosts she changed the daytime landscape with a concept that is now widely emulated. It's a true testament to her legacy. We are grateful to her and recognize her enormous contribution to ABC Entertainment and the indelible mark she has left on television." The episode to recognize the talents of "The View's" creator will air Thurs., May 15 on ABC. Walters will officially retire on May 16, but will remain an executive producer of “The View.”
